(1) Definite Article:- “The” is called the definite article.
(2)Indefinite Article:- “A” and “An” are called Indefinite Article.
Use Of “A”
1. “A “ is generally used before a consonant.
Example:- a book, a cat, a river etc.
2. “a” used before a vowel sound that has a consonant sound.
Example:- a useful, a usage
3. “a” used to mean one thing or one person
Example:- a bird, a chair etc.
4. “a” used before the word beginning with “o” but sound “wa”
Example:- a one rupee, a one day cricket etc.
5. “a” used to show a kind, class or species.
Example:- a tiger etc.
6. “a” used in exclamation before nouns
Example:- what a lovely bird!
Use of “An”
1. “an” is used before a vowel.
Example: an orange, an umbrella etc.
2. “an” is used before individual letter spoken with a vowel sound.
Example:- an M.A, an H.S etc.
Use of “the”
1. “the” is used particular person or thing
Example:- the book, the match etc.
2. “the” is used before nouns that are unique or are considered unique.
Example:- the sun, the earth etc.
3. “the” is used to indicate a class.
Example:- the cow, the cat etc.
